DMS Parts Inventory Integration update

Integration with the dealer's Dealer Management System (DMS) for parts information provides the Parts Clerk with immediate access to inventory levels and location without having to leave Technician Inspection. In addition, by knowing if the part is in stock or not, the Service Advisor can confidently sell recommendations and set the correct expectation with the customer.

With this update, the following parts information from your DMS is now available in Technician Inspection

  • Description, real-time availability and warehouse location for parts required to complete services and recommendations.
  • Data for DMS aftermarket or off-make parts that are not in your OEM parts tape.

When working in the Parts List page (shown above) or the Parts List window from the Recommendations page, the Parts Clerk sees the description, location ('Bin/Shelf') and quantity on hand ('O.H.') from the DMS for each part number in the list.

  1. Data imported from the DMS is highlighted .
  1. If there is sufficient quantity for the request, the status on the Parts List page is automatically set to 'Stock'. It can be modified if needed.
  1. Data from the DMS cannot be updated, only refreshed as described in Refreshing the data:. The timestamp of the most recent refresh is shown.

Note: If a new part number is entered that is in the DMS but not the parts tape, the associated data from the DMS is also retrieved.

Refreshing the data:

Parts list data from the DMS is refreshed as follows:

  • Whenever the inspection is opened from the TI vehicle queue.
  • When the Parts List window is opened.
  • When the data is manually refreshed on the Parts List page, using the "Refresh On Hand" button.

Once the inspection is in a Completed status, automatic and manual refreshes are disabled.

Note: DMS parts inventory integration is automatically enabled for all dealers.
