Communicating Inspection Results with Digital MPI

Inspection results from the MPI can be communicated to the customer directly from Service Dashboard if Digital MPI is enabled at your dealership. The Service Advisor uses text or email to communicate the results, and the customer reviews, selects and approves the recommendations from their mobile device or laptop. Each recommendation includes an associated explanation and price estimate, along with the overall repair bill including the concerns and services the customer approved when they were checked in at the dealership.

Note: If inspection items are all OK (all green), the results can be sent automatically to the customer's email and/or cell phone number for their information, depending which contact information is available. The service lane status changes immediately to Work in Progress at the time the MPI is marked completed indicating that no further action is required from the Service Advisor. Contact Client Support to enable this feature for your dealership.

When the service lane is in status, a Recommendations document appears in Final Documents on the Service Visit page:

Click on the document to open the Recommendations page.

Note: Alternatively use the quick link from the service lane. It appears under the "Open in App" drop-down list if MPI results are available for review.

Information on the Recommendations page is separated by tabs:

  • Concerns: Lists the customer concerns and recalls captured at the time of write-up along with any recommendations made by the Technician. The number on the tab reflects the number of concerns and recalls. The tab only appears if there are one or more items.

  • Inspection: Lists the inspection recommendations made in Technician Inspection. The number on the tab reflects the number of recommendations plus any inspection items without recommendations.

  • Summary: Lists the services the customer approved from the write-up along with pricing information. The number on the tab reflects the number of pre-approved services including concerns and recalls.

Prepare the inspection results for the customer as described next.
